Our Class Prayer

Dear Lord,

Help us to try hard and do our best every day.

Keep us smiling and happy in what we do.

September 2020

During our Autumn term we will be working on place value in mathematics, we will be developing our understanding of number and using this to compare and order numbers, solve addition and subtraction problems and count on from any number within 20.

In our Phonics sessions we will continue to learn new sounds and use these to read new words.

Our topic work will enable us to step back in time to learn about the Victorian era, we will be contrasting life in the past to life today and learning about significant people form the past.

April 2020

Scratch is a program which helps children understand how to write and execute algorithms to achieve a specific objective such as creating a game.  As part of the National Curriculum, as children progress through school, they will build upon their programming skills with the aim of being able to write, create and debug games by the time they reach Year 6. Scratch can be used at home via the Scratch website here or by downloading the Scratch offline Editor. Wanting to create your own game but not sure where to start? Click on the images below to watch a few videos which will teach you how to create a game.

Class Assembly

The Year 1 class assembly took place on Friday 23rd June 2017 at 9.10am in the school hall. We showcased lots of work and told the school what we had been learning about this half term. Lots of parents and grandparents came to watch and we would like to thank everyone for their support! It was a brilliant assembly and all of the children did themselves proud!

Fruit Salads - DT

In DT this half term, we have been making and testing fruit salads. We looked at the ingredients of a fruit salad before planning our own. We then made them before testing them. They were delicious! After, we evaluated our work! We had lots of fun making fruit salads, especially testing them!

Painting animals from Yorkshire Wildlife Park - Art

Following on from our visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, we used paint to paint some of the animals that we saw on our visit. We used a palette to colour mix and added lots of detail using different sized brushes! Take a look at some of the brilliant pieces of art that were produced!

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Our class trip was to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It was a brilliant day and the weather was on our side. After travelling by coach, we walked around the park looking at the different animals. We really enjoyed looking at the tigers, polar bears and the meerkats. After we walked around the park, we learnt how to handle and care for some of the animals. Some of us even got to hold some of the animals! We then had a picnic before returning to school! It was an amazing day and everyone had fun! Here are some of the pictures we took on the day!

June 2017

In phonics, we have been learning how to use different types of punctuation. We have learnt how to correctly use question marks when asking a question.

Here are some examples of our work.
